See my post "favorite tips and tricks" under General Discussion.  It is number 8.  The author is Pienkoss.  The book is often referred to as the 'Rottweiler bible' and indeed is quite fitting.  I paid around $65.00 or $70.00 for it.  Dieter Hoffman signed it for me.  He brought a box of them here when he judged a show.  You can get it from von Evman's.  They were instrumental in getting the book translated to English from German.

To make it easier, I just pasted that part of the post below.  Here is a link to von Evmans site to purchase the book: http://www.shopvonevmansonline.com/index.aspx  The cost is $73.00

8. Favorite Rotty book:  “The Rottweiler, A great dog breed. History, breeding, care and use” by Adolf Pienkoss, copyright 2008 IFR, published by Helga Broekeland Verlag, Essen, Germany.  This book has been referred to as the “Rottweiler Bible” and that probably isn’t too far from the truth in my opinion.  It is 6.5” x 9.5” and is 534 pages.  Of all the books that I have mentioned in this post, this is the most expensive. Christmas is just around the corner, LOLOL!  I paid $65.00 for it (actually one of the most expensive books I own as well.)  It is also the only book I purchased without reviewing and reading part of it.  The books were sealed.  I’ll admit that I bought it based on other people’s opinions.  With that being said, I am happy to report that I have no regrets  .  I haven’t had but a small amount of time to cuddle up with this book and really read it.  I took it to the trial where Haila got her CD and RA, but loaned it (and Guy’s book) to the owners of the two rotties crated next to me (I wasn’t lying in my intro that I like to help people, !)  I have learned a lot and really enjoyed what I have read.  This book goes into great depth with each subject it covers.  I describe it as a ‘heavy’ read and prefer to read it where I can really concentrate, similar to a book that I would read for school or college.  I would list just the table of contents, but, honestly, it wouldn’t do this book justice.  Please bear with me for including most of the ‘sub-areas’ as well .  Table of contents: FORWARD, FROM WOLVES TO ROTTWEILERS- where did our dogs originate?, from wolves to dogs, from molossers to Rottweilers, all about sheep dogs, herding dogs and farm dogs, draught dogs, Rottweilers as draught dogs, war dogs, dogs in military service, ROTTWEIL- Rottweil, the city that gave the dog its name, dogs in Rottweil, the guild of butchers and their dogs, BASIC GENETICS- breed characteristics and breed standards, ROTTWEILER CLUBS- breed standard for 1901, breed characteristics by R. Strebel, 1905, German Animal Disease law, how the Rottweiler returned to fame, bearers of breeding stock under the DRK, South German Rottweiler Club, breed standard issued by the SDK, the IRK, breed standard issued by the IRK, descriptions of dogs that influenced breeding under the IRK, THE GENERAL GERMAN ROTTWEILER CLUB (ADRK)- foundation, breed standard of 1921, first breeding measures introduced by the ADRK, model for a breed standard, criticism of the standard, breed standard of 1970, synopsis standards for Rottweilers, ALL ABOUT BREEDING UNDER GENERAL GERMAN ROTTWEILER CLUB- evaluation tools: breed suitability test and Koerung evaluation, guidelines for BST, procedure for the practical part of the BST, rules for the Koerung, what’s acquired and what’s inherited, breed club regulations by the ADRK, breed value assessment, ADRK minimum requirements for keeping dogs, ADRK special breed show constitution, first club winners breed show in Rottweil, Winner at Klubsiegershow ADRK,  CHAIRMEN AND OTHER PERSONALITIES- (people listed), how did it go on, learning tables, type and performance of the Rottweiler, the head, the trunk, the croup, the pelvis and the tail, ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION, BLOOD GROUP ANALYSIS IN THE DOG, ETHOLOGY- an ethologist reflects on dogs, relevance of early influence of experiences on the character development of the dog, assessment of behavior characteristics of the dog, a small educational aid, the way the dog behaves shows the owner what mood he is in, when you buy a dog, performance is the evidence of good breeding, utility dog breeding, which dog do you want?, about responsibility, ABOUT WORKING WITH THE DOG- protection service and resources, protection according to the prey instinct method?, trial for cattle dogs, the admission of the First Police Dog Club, the syndicate of the breeding and utility dog association (AZG), THE SERVICE DOG IN THE GERMAN ARMED FORCES, THE POLICE AND AT CUSTOMS, BREEDING MEASURES FOR THE CONTROL OF HEREDITARY DISEASES AND SUFFERINGS- Entropion, teeth and dentition faults in dogs, hip dysplasia, breeding measures to combat hip dysplasia in the Rottweiler, results of the year based on 3941 HD certificates, statistical analysis of dog breeding, combating HD with the aid of statistics, STATISTICS OF BREEDING-(review of a few dogs-Bulli v. Hungerbuhl, Eves Eulenspiegel, etc.), origin, detection and control of HD, evaluation of HD and ED in the ADRK, AN ANALYSIS OF CHARACTER, DATA SHEET- calculation of the inbreeding degree, inbreeding coefficient and HD, the weight of the Rottweiler, THE FOUNDATION CONGRESS OF THE IFR, ROTTWEILER IN PICTURES, ROTTWEILER IN THE WORKD, ROTTWEILER BREEDING IN THE FORMER GDR, ROTTWEILER IN TODAY’S SOCIETY, THE CHAMPIONS, 100 YEARS ADRK- THE FESTIVAL IN ROTTWEIL, THE ROTTWEILER AS AN ADVERTISING MEDIUM, ROTTWEILER AND THE ART, SPONSORS
