Ok here is the scoop so far...

Blondy had 3 girls and 2 boys via C-Section at 3:30pm today.  When she woke up she knew something changed because she was in pain...and she could hear them...she woke up FAST.  I had to keep her still and made sure to put her muzzle on before she was fully awake.

We got hom at 5pm and I took the pups into the whelp room with Blondy in tow...still muzzled because after all we did have to make it to the box right...So I put blondy in....she turned and looked at the box at which point i tipped it up so she could get her head inside to look...she sniffled them...nuzzled them...and I tipped the box more until they were rolling around with her nose nudging them...she look at them....looked at me....and she "switched" into super bitch mode!  I had to make a dash for the door just in time to close it...BUT I forgot to take her muzzle off.  Shit...well i guess it was a good thing because her milk is still not down yet and I can still get in with a loop and take her out to nurse them from a bottle.  So I did a colostrum feeding at 6pm with some nutrical.  Where was blonds....in the Wire kennel watching ME in her box!  I got a noose on her and dragged her away.

I put her back once all was settle and left he muzzle on...she can still drink and eat so for NOW it just keep me in Alpha as long as there is a noose and a wire crate.  She is in pain thou...she didn't go into super mom mode after i put her back in but picked up a pup and took it into the corner of the room with her.  I then had to go put it back...she didn't move.  I have given her 100mg of tramadol for now.  She still has not gone in to nurse them...and I am getting a bit worried that she might not bond.  Then I will have to take mom spot.  Just wish me luck...I just want her to love them.

Wow! I have never heard of a female being that aggressive with the owner over pups. I am glad they are ok and good luck, I hope Blondy is better on Friday.            Bill

They'll all pull through. We won't have it any other way. Kimmy Mommy isn't such a bad deal for the pups either...  just wearing on Kimmy.

well back from vet with a little girl with 7 stitches...Blondy has rejected them.  The pain medication, C-section, and anistesia really did not sit well with her.  She doesn't think they are hers...the vet said she doesn't think Blondy realized she was pregnant at all because there is no oxitocin and there was even a pup in the birth channel.  I will keep them away from her and tend to her separtly.  Rebecca chriscoe is going to bring me a female from SC that has milk and will tend to the pups.

BTW...they are beautiful so far...I will have pictures when things are a bit less hectic.  All are ok except the little girl who is in a bit of pain.  the vet said she thinks that there is a bit of muscle damage but its too soon to say.

Kim glad you have a female who will support the babies. One thing I have learned over the years is you never know what will happen with a litter of puppies. Just in the short time I have know you I have seen many different types of situations with the babies. For a breeder with less experience it would have been awful but you take care of business. I hope the little female will be ok, looking forward to the pictures later.

The little girl died this morning at 8:15.  She had 2 seizures at 3:30 back to back and never recovered fully.  I believe she might have had more damage then was first realized.  I called the vet to give her an update.  The rest are doing well so far.  I'm going to take them and get a nap until the next feeding.  With the bitch coming in I will be able to get 4 hours of sleep instead of just 2...  Cry

Rebecca Chriscoe (Koslich von Ursa Rottweilers) went to pickup one of her girl who just came off puppies in NC.  She is letting me take her.  Her name is "Zandra"

Seizures ?  Frodos' last litter was plagued with them. It was a litter of 13  !  Only three survived. No one knows what the cause was.  . Pola was a good mother , and the vet said  that maybe the size of the littler attributed to the issues. Sorry for the loss. Hope that the remainder of the litter will do well.  Good luck Kim.
